The Nevada Department of Education is inviting families of students receiving special education services to participate in a family focus group. While this survey and focus group initiative is organized at the state level through Sigma Associates rather than directly by Nye County School District, the insights shared by our families will directly help shape special education support, resources, and communication across all Nevada school districts.

The focus groups offer a welcoming space to share what helps you feel informed, respected, and involved, as well as to review Nevada's family survey to ensure it reflects what truly matters to our families. Participation is entirely voluntary and confidential—all feedback is summarized without identifying you, your child, or your school.

Hello, Parents and Guardians!
Mark your calendars. Parent-teacher conferences are Thursday, October 22nd. That day will be a minimum day for students. Students will be released at 11:50 AM. Conferences will run from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for the first session and from 3:30 to 6:30 PM for the 2nd session. Your child's teacher(s) may reach out to you for specifics. All students will have the opportunity to eat in the cafeteria that day. The book fair will also be available to view and purchase. We hope to have a very good turnout at all three schools.
Also, a reminder: there is no school on Monday, October 26th, due to a teacher in-service day.

RE: School & District Investigation Process Clarification

The Nye County School District (NCSD) emphasizes the following facts and guidelines regarding investigations:

The district investigates every report and accusation made regarding student or staff concerns.

While we understand the community's desire for full transparency in every situation, federal and state privacy mandates strictly protect student records and employee personnel files; as a result, specific investigative findings, student and/or personnel outcomes, disciplinary actions, and evidentiary details cannot be disclosed to complainants, parents, or the public.

During an investigation, out of an abundance of caution, we may remove students from the classroom and place employees on administrative leave; however, we work under the same fundamental principle as our legal system: Every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The safety, security, and well-being of our students across all Nye County communities remain our highest priorities. We strongly encourage parents, staff, and community members to refrain from engaging in or spreading unverified rumors, particularly across social media channels. The dissemination of speculation can hamper official investigations and cause unnecessary distress.
