Update
Dear Families,

The purpose of this note is to inform you that both Tonopah Elementary and Tonopah Middle/High School are currently without power.

Please be assured that all students and staff are safe. We are sending this alert to guardians via phone and text to ensure you are fully informed.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have initiated a Stay-Put protocol. During this time, all exterior doors are locked, and students remain safely inside their classrooms where instruction continues.

Please note that due to the outage, our standard phone lines are affected. Calls have been forwarded to an emergency mobile line, which can only handle one caller at a time.

We kindly ask for your patience and request that you monitor the Nye County School District website or Facebook page for additional updates to keep our emergency line open.

The safety of our students is our highest priority. We will notify you as soon as the power is restored and the protocol is lifted.

Sincerely,
Melinda Jeffrey

Dear Tonopah High School Families,

A stay-put protocol was called at THS to clear the hallways for emergency medical personnel who are currently assisting a student in the front office with a medical need. The student’s parents have been notified.

Please be assured that all other students are safe and the school day is continuing.

We will send another notification once the Stay-Put has been lifted. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Alert
Dear Parents and Guardians,

The safety and well-being of our students are always our primary concern. I am writing to let you know that we have initiated a precautionary Stay-Put protocol at Tonopah High School this morning.

This protocol was called due to a medical distress situation involving a student in the school office. The student's parents have been notified.

We have requested emergency medical assistance, and you may see emergency vehicles on our campus.

A Stay-Put is used to keep hallways clear to allow emergency responders quick and private access to the office. During this protocol, the school remains secure, and students stay in their classrooms where learning continues as scheduled.

Sincerely,

Melinda Jeffrey

Dear Families,
The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. I am writing to inform you that Tonopah Middle & High School implemented a precautionary Stay-Put procedure today due to a student medical
episode.

During this protocol, any outside activities are moved inside and no students or staff are allowed outside the building. Classroom instruction continues as normal, but hallway traffic is limited. This ensures that medical personnel have unhindered access to the campus.

We understand that emergency procedures can be concerning, but please be assured we are following all district safety protocols to provide the best care for our students.

We will provide further updates as they become available. Thank you for your continued support of our school and students.

Sincerely,
Melinda Jeffrey Principal, Tonopah Middle & High School

The Nye County Maintenance and Operations Department and Tonopah High School,
would like to extend a sincere thank you to NV Energy and the Tonopah Fire Department for
their support at the Tonopah High School football field.
With their time, equipment, and willingness to help, we were able to replace the burnt-out stadium
lights, which were far too high for us to safely reach on our own. Their teamwork and continued support
make a big difference, and we truly appreciate their readiness to step in whenever they are available.
Thanks again for helping us keep the field lit and ready for game nights!
