You are receiving invitations through email and text from Apptegy for a new communication service called Rooms.
Please accept the invitation even if your school is not yet using Rooms. Every school has a published classroom with a bit more information, so once you are set up, you can see what it looks like. PVHS, RCMS, Pathways, Beatty, Amargosa, Round Mountain, and Gabbs have all started to use Rooms with their teachers. We'll be expanding to more schools next year.
The service works through the NCSD App, and once you are signed up, you will automatically be connected to your school and students' teachers each year. It's a one-time registration.

While President Biden has declared a National Day of Mourning to honor former President Jimmy Carter, this declaration primarily affects federal employees.
Nevada public schools, including all those in Nye County, will remain in session.

Nye County School District has been working with partners to provide incentives for good attendance. Please ask your principal how your attendance can help you win your choice of electronics.

The meeting is based in Tonopah at the Tonopah District Office, not the high school. The Pahrump District Office will also be open for attendance.
Tonopah residents are welcome to attend a leadership and community round table at the Tonopah District Office at 4:00 PM.
A construction mishap has created a power outage at Tonopah Middle/High School. Power will not be restored until late tonight.
Middle and High school students are being dismissed today at 3:10.
The elementary schedule is normal and unaffected.

Tonopah MS/HS Families,
We want to continue to keep you abreast of the cooling issues still in place at Tonopah MS/HS.
Again, this is NOT related to the new A/C units that were installed over the summer. At this time, we are awaiting parts to fix the heat exchanger.
Installation of those parts will be approximately August 23rd. The cooling towers are cooling the building intermittently throughout the day. Fans and swamp coolers have been strategically placed throughout the building. At this time, the building is comfortable.

Tonopah Families,
The high school HVAC system is suffering from an obstruction, so air is not flowing. NCSD Maintenance and Operations is VERY much aware of this issue and on-site working on manually exchanging air.
Portable swamp coolers are being brought from Pahrump, and Emcore, our heating contractor is on the way from Las Vegas. The current problem is NOT related to the new
units that were installed over the summer.
We will provide updates as they become available.
